RJ Mitte, the actor best known for playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr. on the critically acclaimed AMC drama Breaking Bad, has died by suicide at the age of 34.

His representative confirmed the cause of death to Page Six on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, after he died in Texas on Monday, October 12, with a medical examiner still to determine the official manner of death following an autopsy.

His representative issued a statement describing the loss as profound and paying tribute to a man whose impact extended far beyond the screen.

“RJ Mitte was best known for his role as Walter ‘Flynn’ White Jr. on AMC’s critically acclaimed, award-winning series ‘Breaking Bad.’ Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion,” the statement read.

Beyond his acting career, RJ Mitte served as president of The Mitte Foundation, worked as a proud ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and used his platform consistently to challenge stereotypes and push for greater representation for people with disabilities.

His final public appearance came on Thursday, October 2, 2026, when he recorded an interview for the Stauros Entertainment podcast about his latest film, Talking to Strangers, in which he played a character with cerebral palsy involved in a love affair.

His on-screen father, Bryan Cranston, 70, who played Walter White, was among the first Breaking Bad cast members to pay tribute, sharing a throwback photo alongside a deeply personal statement.

“Deep despair. Especially devastating to hear that he took his own life. Why? We were texting each other just a few weeks ago, figuring out when we could meet for lunch,” Cranston wrote.

“I don’t know if that lunch would have changed his future. But I do know that I loved him and thoroughly enjoyed being with him throughout the years on the series and after the spotlight on ‘Breaking Bad’ dimmed… I’ll miss you, son.”
