Security personnel stopped a trespasser who entered former Vice President Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff’s Malibu property before the person could reach their home.
The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, September 11, after Harris and Emhoff’s private security detail reported a “suspicious person” to deputies from the Los Hills Sheriff’s Station.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said deputies arrived and contacted the security team at the property. The individual was warned and advised to leave and did so voluntarily without incident.
Eduardo Negrón, a spokesperson for Harris, confirmed that the person had illegally entered the property.
“Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home,” Negrón said.
Harris and Emhoff were not at the property when the incident occurred. Negrón said they were grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded.
Authorities took a trespassing report and said patrols in the area would be increased as a precaution.
