Aaron Rodgers has revealed how he he nearly missed his chance with the woman he now calls his wife, Brittani.
The NFL star revealed that he met Brittani back in 2017, but when she was preparing to leave the United States for Europe, he did not make the move he now wishes he had.
“I met my wife in 2017,” Rodgers said during a Sept. 10 appearance on the Not Just Football podcast. “At the time, she was leaving the states and going back to Europe and my biggest regret is not begging her to stay or just, like, proposing right there.”
Instead, Rodgers went on to date other women. He was with Danica Patrick from 2018 to 2020 and later got engaged to Shailene Woodley in 2021. They ended their relationship a year later. Rodgers had also dated Olivia Munn.
Looking back, Rodgers believes meeting Brittani had already changed something in him.
“That sent me into a tailspin,” he said. “I was emotionally unavailable for those seven or eight years because I’d met the person that was going to change my life. After that, I just poured everything into football.”
The situation was not simple either. Rodgers and Brittani spent much of the time separated by an ocean, and she eventually got engaged to someone else.
“We were separated by an ocean for a lot of it,” he said. “Then, she was engaged.”
They eventually found their way back to each other and eloped in 2025.
“Luckily for me we came back together,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers also addressed his past relationship with Danica Patrick and pushed back on the idea that she was simply blindsided when he left.
“There’s Danica with her story of like a trail of blood and blindsided by me leaving her when it’s like, alright there’s zero intimacy,” he said.
“I didn’t want to buy a house with you. Didn’t want to have any attachments and there was really nothing there.”
