Kelly Osbourne has opened up about one of the most painful years of her life, revealing she has gained approximately 30 pounds since her dramatically thin appearance at the 2026 BRIT Awards in February,
According to her, she reached such a dark low during her grief that she visited her father’s grave to beg him for help.
Speaking to The Sun in an interview published on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the 41-year-old said she had no idea how thin she had become until she saw the photographs from the BRIT Awards.
She said, “I didn’t know that I looked like that until I saw the pictures. “When I saw them, I couldn’t f**king believe it. I was as shocked as everyone else.”
She explained that the dramatic weight loss was not the result of an eating disorder, but a physical manifestation of grief so severe that her body simply shut down.
“It wasn’t an eating disorder. I just couldn’t do anything for myself,” she said. “Eating made me feel like I wanted to throw up.”
The situation became so desperate that Kelly Osbourne turned to her late father in a way that would surprise many as she practised what she described as candle magic to reach him.
“I know this sounds woo-woo, but I do candle magic a lot,” she said. “My dad told me he would send me messages.”
She described going to Ozzy’s grave with a white candle and inscribing a wish on it, asking him simply: “Please help me.”
The next day, Sharon introduced her to therapist and life coach Chris Miller, and Kelly Osbourne credits him with saving her life as she believes the timing was Ozzy’s answer.
She also reflected on a motivation that pushed her to fight back, not wanting her young son Sidney to witness her in that state.
“It felt like everything inside me was dead, and I didn’t want my son to see me like this,” she said.
According to Kelly Osbourne, looking back, she is able to hold both the pain and the progress at the same time, hence describing the past year as simultaneously the worst of her life and the most revelatory.
“It’s been the worst year of my life,” she said. “But it’s also been really beautiful, because I’ve learned that my grief is an honour — as I truly love someone that much.”
